Our Tested Local Guide
Sports, Fitness, Yoga & Wellness in Coron and Busuanga:
Island hopping, wreck diving, and hiking around the Calamianes islands are incredible, but they can leave your muscles sore. Over our years living and working on the islands, we have personally tried and verified the best spots to stay fit, stretch out, and relax.
Whether you want to maintain your workout routine, learn to skate, try traditional massages, or join local evening events, here is our complete, hands-on guide for coron-busuanga.com.
Gyms & Fitness Centers
If you want to keep up with your strength training or cardio, we have several options in and around Coron Town:
CORE-ON FITNESS: Located right in downtown Coron, this newer option features a modern look, day passes, and personal training options.
Flexing Spartans Gym: An old-school gym with a friendly local atmosphere and low entrance fees—ideal if you just want to pump iron.
Dayon Fitness Hub: Situated slightly outside the main town, this open-air, covered gym focuses on overall fitness and cardio. It costs 150 PHP for a day pass and is notably the only public gym open on Sundays.
Resort Gyms: If you prefer an upscale environment, several larger resorts offer dedicated fitness rooms alongside their pools:
Bacau Bay Resort Coron: A 4-star resort featuring a dedicated fitness center with cardio machines, weights, and a large outdoor pool.
Two Seasons Coron Bayside Hotel: Offers quality gym facilities located right by the water.
Fernvale Leisure Club and Resort: Features a huge, clean outdoor pool perfect for lap swimming or water exercises, plus an on-site fitness room.
Fun Sports & Muay Thai
Tribe Calamian Fitness Gym (Muay Thai): Located on the way to Mount Tapyas, this gym offers Muay Thai training and practice sessions. They welcome both adults and kids (from 12 years old).
Pickleball at Dayon Fitness Hub: You can rent a pickleball court at Dayon Fitness Hub for 500 PHP per hour. You can reserve a court by messaging them via WhatsApp (09752033849), Facebook, or Instagram.
Roller Skating Clubs: There are active roller skate clubs in both Coron and Salvacion (Busuanga). They rent skates in all sizes for adults and kids and provide lessons. The Coron club trains both outdoors and indoors, making it a perfect rainy-day activity for families. Contact the Coron Skate Club or Salvacion Skate Club on Facebook to get involved.
Yoga, Swimming & Mermaiding
Yoga sa Isla: This open-air shala (studio) in Coron Town sits surrounded by greenery, offering views of the town and Mount Tapyas.
Classes: Daily options range from Gentle Flow to evening Yin Yoga and Yoga & Sound healing workshops. It is also a peaceful spot to practice yoga during rainy weather.
Details: Classes start from 600 PHP. Mats and blocks are provided for free; just bring a water bottle and a small towel. Walk-ins are welcome, but booking online at yogasaisla.com is recommended.
Barracuda Swim Club: Located in St. Nicolas (about 15 minutes from Coron Town), this facility features a long pool in a garden terrace. Run by the local freediving school, certified instructors offer swim lessons and training for both kids and adults.
Mermaiding: If you want to learn freediving in a mermaid tail, you can join Palawan’s only mermaid school at mermaid-club.com. It is a fun challenge that leaves you with unique holiday photos.
Local Sports & Community Events
Joining local activities is one of our favorite ways to experience the island culture:
Free Evening Zumba: Every evening around 6:00 PM, locals gather at the fountain plaza in Coron Town for free Zumba dancing. Each day features a specific t-shirt color theme. You can ask Mrs. Ivy on Facebook or check with dancers the night before to find out what color to wear so you can blend in. Please remember that this is a local community tradition rather than a tourist show, so show respect and have fun. Small donations are welcome.
Watch or Play Basketball: Basketball is immensely popular across the Philippines. You can head to the Coron Town Plaza stadium in the town center almost every evening to watch matches for free. Ask your hotel, guide, or divemaster about the game schedule. You can also find smaller neighborhood courts around town where locals are often happy to let guests join in for a pickup game.
Annual Sporting Highlights – Busuanga Triathlon
Pearl Bay Team Triathlon (Busuanga): Usually held in mid-January around Busuanga Bay, this annual short-course multisport event includes a 1 km swim, 15 km bike ride, and 3 km run. The fifth edition was hosted at D’ Pearl Bay near Pearl Bay Villas and Al Faro Palawan. If you want to enter the race, contact Al Faro Hotel or Pirate Divers Busuanga.

Private Massages: On Your Boat or in Your Hotel
You do not have to walk back through the tropical heat after a long tour to get a treatment. Through mermaid-club.com, we organize professional massage therapists to meet you directly at your accommodation or even on your private boat tour:
At Your Hotel: Enjoy a private treatment directly in your room or on your resort balcony.
On a Private Boat Trip: You can book a therapist to join your private boat charter, giving you a relaxing massage right on the deck while sailing between lagoons and islands.
Outdoor Sports & Natural Wellness
Mount Tapyas Stairs: A 700+ step stair climb up to the cross viewing deck over Coron Town. It is one of our favorite cardio sessions. Do this at sunrise (cool weather) or late afternoon for sunset.
Maquinit Hot Spring is one of the very few natural saltwater hot springs in the world. Located about 20–25 minutes by tricycle from Coron Town, it features therapeutic mineral water feeding large stone pools right along the mangrove coast. Water Temperature: Around 38°C to 40°C (100°F – 104°F).
Best Time to Visit: Right around sunset or early evening (after 5:30 PM). Soaking in the hot water after a day on the sea relaxes sore muscles instantly.
Entry Fee: Expect around 300 PHP per person.
