Island Hopping: Your Ultimate Coron Adventure

Island hopping is undoubtedly the number one activity in Coron. Numerous day trips depart from the pier in Coron Town, taking you to a variety of stunning islands and beaches. Popular destinations include:
Kayangan Lake: Often hailed as one of Asia’s cleanest lakes, it’s famous for its crystal-clear freshwater and impressive limestone formations. You can swim, dive, and snorkel here. A picturesque viewpoint is accessible via a series of steps.
Twin Lagoon: A breathtaking lagoon separated by a dramatic limestone wall that you must navigate through or over. The water is a fascinating mix of fresh and saltwater, leading to intriguing temperature variations. It’s perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Barracuda Lake: Another pristine lake with fascinating characteristics, including thermoclines and unique underwater rock formations. The water is a blend of fresh and saltwater, with temperatures significantly increasing at depth (up to 38°C from 14 meters). It’s a popular spot for scuba divers and particularly renowned among freedivers. Learn more about Barracuda Lake here.

Beautiful Beaches

Wreck Diving, Snorkeling, and Freediving

Coron Bay, nestled between Busuanga and Coron, is world-famous for its Japanese World War II shipwrecks. With an estimated 11 to 13 wrecks, this dive site is considered one of the best globally. The wrecks lie at varying depths, offering opportunities for beginners to experienced divers. You can explore these underwater marvels by scuba diving or snorkeling. Well-known wrecks include the Akitsushima, the Okikawa, the Kogyo Maru, and the Skeleton Wreck. Attractions in Coron Town and Surroundings

Mount Tapyas: A hill close to the town center, accessible by climbing 721 or 724 steps. From the summit, marked by a large white cross, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the town and surrounding islands, especially stunning at sunset.
Maquinit Hot Springs: One of the world’s few saltwater hot springs, located about 5 km east of Coron Town. They offer a relaxing soak in pleasantly warm waters (approx. 39-40°C) after an eventful day. The pools are open until 10 PM, with the last entry at 8 PM.
Coron Public Market: A vibrant spot to find fresh seafood, Filipino specialties, and local produce.
Cashew Factory: Coron Town is considered a center for cashew nut production. You can visit processing facilities to see how cashew kernels are processed by hand.
All these attractions are easily reachable on foot or by tricycle.

Even though Coron Town lacks its own beach and you might not always have time for island trips, you can still enjoy a relaxed day with a tropical vibe. Some hotels feature fantastic pool areas or private coastal sections and offer day passes for you to unwind and enjoy the day. We recommend places like Tao or Discovery Island Resort.
